The Heart of the Poet’s Heart: Learning the Epic Ramayana

Among all the great stories, Ramayana is the most important and influential work in the vast mythologies of ancient India.  It is here we learn rich lessons of intimacy and friendship, hardship and betrayal, and the compelling worth of life that, at once, brings joy and sorrow into a greater whole.  In our seminar we’ll retell the tale and share more fully in the empowerment of the heroine Sita, the compelling love of the yogi Hanuman, and the tragic willfulness of the demonic Ravana.   Ramayana is called the adikavya in Sanskrit, meaning the “original poem,” and within its deeper messages lies the heart of our shared human story.  To listen and learn together is the very core of our human endeavor to grow and evolve and there is no better resource than to make a return to the primal center that is Ramayana—even if it is your first time.  No previous experience is expected or required.  Join us for all or even some of the tale: there’s no end, so everywhere you start is an honest beginning.
