At SYJ, we ardently believe that the gift of yoga should be available for everyone who chooses to practice it. It’s powerful stuff, it brings communities together, and it elevates us to be who we are meant to be.
Yoga reminds us that our bodies, our minds and our big throbbing hearts are strong. We remember that we are courageous, we remember that we are empowered, and we begin to move in beautiful ways on this planet, both locally and globally.
Ultimately, yoga reminds us that we have the power to heal ourselves and each other. Our mission is to team up with brave and the courageous among us so that we can work together to share yoga and to make it accessible and affordable to those in need.
Give the Gift of Wellness to our Healthcare Heroes
We’re showing our gratitude to the healthcare workers who are on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic in our community by offering free year-long subscriptions to our Virtual Studio.
You can help take care of the people who take care of us in three ways:
- Donate a full year-long subscription to the SYJ Virtual Studio (15% off)
- Donate anywhere from $10-$300 to go towards a year-long subscription
- Nominate a healthcare professional who you think deserves an SYJ Virtual Studio subscription.
So far, your generosity has enabled us to provide free yoga to three local healthcare heroes (more on that to come!)
Please contact BK, our studio manager, to nominate someone who you think could benefit from this gift of wellness.
Domestic Violence Crisis Center, providing weekly yoga classes for free to women who are victims of domestic violence. Our hope is that the practice of yoga will help these women heal and take steps to lead beautiful empowered lives. This program is funded by our weekly meditation students, SYJ & Pro-Mindful, a 501 3C that matches our donations in order to pay for these classes.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
In June of 2013, the SYJ community raised over $18,000.00 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. We were the 2nd highest team donation in the nation. This was an unprecedented Wow! Where our amazing community proved, yet again, that the power to heal and to serve ignites when we are doing it together.
Our 2nd annual Yoga Gives to St. Jude Kids yogathon was held Saturday, June 14, 2014 in New Canaan.
